Today's whinge is: Why don't people selling bicycles on ebay list the frame size? Grrr!

My second question is: Why the hell am I looking at bicycles on ebay anyway? EVERY TIME I buy or sell something on there, I end up in grief.
FFS, the last thing I bought (for less than 5 pounds) resulted in the seller getting pissed off (after I paid!) and he is *still* harrassing me.. I've had to report his emails to ebay. Why? Because I left him neutral feedback, because I thought his items were misleadingly advertised.. and he is still emailing me to tell me what a fuckwit I am, and how he's going to interfere with and ruin any future auctions that I may start. Lovely example of a professional ebay trader there.. >:/

Oh, btw - if any of you out there are selling a bicycle in London secondhand at the moment.. let me know, ok? I want to start riding one again, but since I have never managed to own a bike for a full year before having it stolen and/or trashed in this city, I don't see the point in buying anything expensive. Just means the thieves will make more money off it later..

There are shops wot sell second-hand bikes, for example, ReCycling at Elephant & Castle. And there are other ad places to check... possibly Freecycle (I know someone in Oxford got a bike there). I'll see if I've got any other links stashed away somewhere.

ta..
I've checked a couple of second-hand bike stores so far, but I've found they seem to want what I think are silly prices.
Eg. 150-300 quid for a second-hand bike? WTF?

Do you know if ReCycling have a website?

Don't think they do. But when I went down there to look at bikes for [livejournal.com profile] mrs_leroy_brown, you could get something v basic for around £100. That includes a full service before they sell it (brake pads etc replaced), & a month afterwards of free 'will fix anything' service. Bear in mind that if you get one on Ebay, a basic service at your local bike shop will set you back about £25, & more if anything actually needs replacing.

I am probably in the market for a bicycle too. I need an off road one so that I can practice in the park.

Goodluck!

I went to cambridge recently and the second hand bike shops there were very reasonable, starts at about $60. I would love one but I don't pay enough attention to not be dangerous!

The ones on eBay are often nicked. One day eBay will ban him.

Second hand bikes go round here for about £50.

Butterworths do discounted insurance for LCC/CTC members. It works out at about 10% of the bike's value pa.

Loot has ads for bikes, but they're typically of the £50 from Halfords variety...

yeah.. ideally I'd like a second-hand bike of something that was originally 200-300.. ie. not ludicrously expensive, but also not as crap as the Halford's gear.
