I have a new turntable.. Well, old turntable, actually.

I've picked up an elderly, but high quality, player from a deceased estate.. Looks VERY dusty, even dirty, like it was sitting in a shed or attic for quite a long time.

I've also looked up the model number of the cartridge/stylus, and it's a Shure M95EJ from 1978 :)
(I might just be replacing that.. the stylus works but doesn't look perfect)

The player goes well my old Rotel RA-1412 and the matching tuner though - that old early 80s brushed steel look :)

Man, I had to drive FOREVER to get there to pick this thing up.

I was drinking a little red wine, and venting spleens online via Battlefield 2, when I knocked the glass over. It didn't even fall completely - I caught it first, and most of the wine remained in the glass.

Some, however, flew out. And jesus H christ, did it fly far.
It managed to cover:
* Left speaker
* Inside of Rotel amplifier
* Side of G4 iBook and into the DVD slot
* PC keyboard
* Bottom of TFT monitor
* Wrist rest
* Nail file
* Nail clippers
* Watch
* USB wireless dongle
* 2x pens
* Lip balm
* desk
* Top of main PC case
* chair
and after all that it still had some left to splatter over the back wall, and still have most of the wine left in the glass.
The amplifier emitted a 50Hz scream at high volume through the speakers, before I killed the power.

After extensive mopping up and emergency surgery upon my electronic devices, the amplifier is working again, the iBook is alright, but the PC keyboard is totally b0rked. Still, it's the cheapest item out of the lot, excluding the biros, lip balm, etc.

The headphones I ordered on Monday arrived this afternoon - a pair of Sennheiser eH-250 supra-aural 'phones.
Sennheiser's site was annoying - the PDF specs of the HD25's (their benchmark headphones) contain more information than the eH series does, but on the limited info available for comparison, they seem inferior. However things like sensitivity and the range on which they provide a flat response doesn't tell you anything about attack, decay, or how tight the response is to any given frequency. Hmph.

Then again, these weren't exactly expensive headphones. I'll see how they sound after they've been run in for a couple of days.

the terminology I use, possibly incorrectly )
