I watched Sukiyaki Western Django last night.. Miike Takeshi's homage to spaghetti westerns that had originally borrowed from samurai films in the first place.
It was styled very much like Quentin Tarantino's films, and even features Quentin cameoing as the only Westerner; a cowboy who comments that he's an anime otaku. (An odd comment to make in 12th century feudal japan). Tarantino surely is one of the Western directors who has borrowed the most from Japanese cinema, so it's funny to see him pop up in this reversal.

Apparently the film was subtitled into English for American audiences.. even though the film has English dialogue (albeit quite accented).

Anyway.. Lovely scenery, quirky plot, interesting concept.. Worth watchimg IMO.
