I seem to be having a bad time for electronic devices..
Yesterday's accident was when I pulled the charging cable out of my mobile, and it promptly broke the plug. And then the phone went flat just before I reached a house inspection, and I hadn't brought any kind of dead-tree-based-map, just the satnav, and thus by the time I found the house, it was too late.
Today's casualty has been my headphones - I pulled them out of my pocket, and the plastic one on has been lost along the way. They're ancient Sony ear-plug-style headphones, but they were still working well :(
I have a pair of full-size over-ear Sennheisers, but I feel too self-concious if I wear them around on the street! I can see a visit to JB HiFi in my near future..
(The Sony headphones have been around the world several times - I bought them in Adelaide back when this style of headphone was very new.. now I think most manufacturers offer this sort. I like them because they massively isolate outside noise, plus it's easy to get a good linear response, including bass, when the headphone is directly resonating your ear canal. Heaven knows what it does to your hearing long-term, though.)

I hope there isn't a third accident coming up.

In other news: Ryan & I visited a really nice place in Thornbury today, and we've put in an application for it. I really want it, but who knows how it will go; I'd say we have a good chance, but just good, no better. :(

Now I'm sitting in the hotel, it's friday night, and I'm a bit bored. Last night was good; I'll do a proper write-up of it soon. I'm pretty tired, I'll probably see how well I can play LOTRO via mobile internet, and then head to bed in a bit.. Unless anyone has some exciting ideas for tonight? *hopeful look*

I get all the luck. Really - ALL OF IT. Read my tales of consumerist angst and woe:

Tale 1) I ordered something off a Hong Kong eBay seller. It didn't turn up. I queried it, he said wait longer, still nothing. Queried again a couple of times, no response. I eventually got the money back via Paypal(!).. and so then the seller files a did-not-pay dispute against me on eBay the very next day. Idiot.

Tale 2) I ordered a compact digital camera (Fuji Finepix F20) from a cheap online shop (7dayshop.com). It arrived the next day, but it's faulty - has a yellow line down every photo you take. Now I have to send it back, and it'll be a week before I get another.

Tale 3) I ordered a silicon case for my mobile phone (from eBay, from HongKong). You can get them for many phones, and they're usually pretty good. However the particular one for my phone is FRIGGING USELESS. It falls off when you put the phone into your pocket, or peels off when you pull it out. >:/
