I hate the Royal Mail with every ounce of my little soul

I hate the Royal Mail. Hate Hate Hate Hate HATE!

They tried to deliver an item to my home while I was at work, and left their little "please come and collect it from our office or have it re-delivered" note.

Making it to their actual office is simply not going to happen. (Office too far away to visit during lunchbreak, and they will return the package to sender before next saturday - which is a horrible time to visit their office anyway, since they're only open to 1pm, and have queues a mile long all morning.)

Calling the number to arrange redelivery gets you to an IVR system. After pressing the right buttons to get to the redelivery menu, you get told "These lines are usually extremely busy. don't recommend you use them. come and collect it in person... but if you /really/ want to arrange redelivery, stay on the line and we'll put you in the queue."
It then transfers me over to a queue, which tells me that unfortunately the queue is too long for them even to add me too it, and drops the line.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!

Did I mention I hate the Royal Mail??

Or, you could go with Plan D, which is to sign the form to say you authorise someone else to collect it on your behalf, and ask your recently-unemployed friend to pop up there sometime for you.

Sounds like a plan..

That'd be great - if you're free today, perhaps pick up the card now, and then come around to mine later in the evening to fill your ipod up and receive my eternal gratitude?

I've got to go and sign on today, and am going to Matilda's comedy thing this evening, but I could possibly pick it up on my way back if it's not too late?

My location: Shoreditch (5 min walk from Old Street station).
Post office location: Almeida street (just off Upper Street, 10 min walk from Angel station)

You need to get to the post office by 5pm or so.. (say 5:30pm at very latest?)

I could meet you at the comedy night instead.

My boss has volunteered to pick the package up tomorrow morning if it isn't raining, so that might work?
Up to you - i would appreciate it!

You're not supposed to hate the Mail? That's an option? When did that happen?

[identity profile] voofy.livejournal.com 2006-05-08 11:23 am (UTC)(link)
if you ask him nicely Robin might let you have stuff delivered to our address, where he works from home.

[identity profile] wintrmute.livejournal.com 2006-05-08 11:30 am (UTC)(link)
ah, but if I could do that, then i would have the package delivered to my work, where I work! :(

Or you could complain to the people I work for :)

When you call them, press the button to go to the complaints dept. Tell them the redelivery line keeps cutting you off, and they'll arrange it for you. Works every time, trust me.

These days I just get packages sent to my work. Much less stress.

Get a reputable courier firm to pick it up.
