Hmm. I appear to have listened to The Lovers by the Legendary Pink Dots, twice. Still, not as bad as when I accidentally left the Iszoloscope vs Ebola EP on infinite random repeat at work, and didn't realise until I'd listened to it at least three times.
My (phone's) alarm clock at home has the The Thin White Duke yelling "It's too late, it's too late!" over and over, but I don't know if having the 30 second chorus from Station to Station counts as hearing the whole thing over and over in a row.

In other news, Other Toby is looking for a PHP coder for a 4-8 week contact. Contact him for more info, or contact Nicky if you don't know Other Toby but do know her, or otherwise just contact me.

Speaking of jobs.. If anyone knows of any work suitable for a recently-arrived Australian with uber-uber math skills and good programming and PC skills, let me know or contact [livejournal.com profile] anohate directly.

-Toby: Pimping Aussies into jobs since 2003.
(well ok, so it's only two or three)

Is [livejournal.com profile] anohate going to be in London? If so, the pubmeet I'm planning for Monday, and the [livejournal.com profile] alt_wharfers meet on Weds might be good places to meet people and also find contacts for work ([livejournal.com profile] alt_wharfers : lots of goths who mostly work in banks. Banks like maths). If s/he's London-based, I'm also happy to share my contacts once I've met them in the flesh.

Damn, thought I'd replied to this ages ago.

Anyway - no, he's currently based in Manchester, although the prevalence of decent jobs in London combined with the lack of anything but data entry in Manchester with probably sway him. I'll introduce him to people when he makes it down here for a visit sometime soon.

This friend of yours who is looking for a job, would he/she have the ability to program survey software? (as in build the actual software) The guys who we are currently using are absolutely hopeless and are charging an absolute fortune. The base of the software is already built we just need to have alterations made, such as in-built filtering and randomisation of answers etc.

I am not very knowledgable when it comes to programing, so I wouldnt be able to say how they have built it, but we own the software (have paid this crap company to design it from scratch) and are looking for someone to develop it further who can actually communicate and get work done properly.

It probably wouldnt be a full time thing, as we don't often require developments or changes. But we would be willing to pay a fair bit for the right person.

I'm not sure, but I wouldn't think so.

I'd be tempted myself if I had the time! heh :(

well I asked our current developers and they said:

HTML and ASP mostly for the Web Site
Visual Basic for RepGen
[the *.exe we use to run the downloads]
The macros in Excel is VBA (Visual Basic for Applications)

So nothing fancy.

*nods*

I don't do VB development myself, unfortunately, but it's a common enough language that many other people do. If I run into someone competant, I'll let you know.
