OK, so I'm a bit fed up with Orange at the moment, for a variety of reasons. Now I'm fed up with the others too.
You see, I want to change the monthly price plan I'm on. However, Orange won't change me without me starting a new 12 month contract -- even if I don't want to take a new mobile phone. I've been on the phone to Vodafone too, and they don't want me to /start/ a new monthly thing, unless I sign up for a minimum of 12 months too. (As the people in my office are painfully aware of by now) I've been on the phone to a whole variety of salesmen* this afternoon, and they all seem *really confused* as to why I'd want to do a thing like this! Apparently it's unheard of..
WTF?
In a way it looks like the most appropriate thing for me would be a pay-as-you-go SIM, except that those get terrible call rates, and you have to keep remembering to top them up, which is just irritating.
As it happens, after extensive trolling through the Vodafone website, I seem to have discovered a SIM-only deal that may, or may not, be what I'm after. Pity none of the salesmen have heard of it. It's listed as a Pay-Monthly SIM, with (30 days contract) in parentheses after it.. which makes it sound like it's a rolling monthly contract.. except that under the terms and conditions it links to, it says it's for a 12 month period.. which may just be a typo, since its the same URL as for the normal monthly deals. And the sales guys have been confused by it and are now researching it to call me back.
They must think I'm the most difficult customer in the world.. yet surely this isn't such a bizarre and unreasonable query? Why am I made to feel like a freak when I'm just wanting something really simple - ie. to make calls on their network, and have them bill me by direct debit for them each month.
