Some of you may have already seen this.. but check out http://www.sco.com/ at the moment, and take a second look at their slogan in that image near the top :)
(If it's been fixed by the time you read this, check out http://wintrmute.net/tmp/sco_hacked.png instead)

In other news, my bike decided to try and commit suicide this morning. It, like many other bikes, has a safety cut-out that stops you from being able to drive off with the kickstand down. If you try to put the bike into gear with the kickstand down (without holding the clutch in), the engine dies. If you're already in gear and put the stand down, the engine dies. This is all very well. However this morning it decided that the kickstand was down and killed the engine.. while I was riding it around a corner, and the kickstand was very definitely NOT down. Due to me being at about a 30 degree angle at the time, and being taken unawares, I didn't manage to get the bike up again without power, and dropped it onto the ground. CRAP! This means that the mirror i replaced on saturday was smashed again less than 48 hours later. And now I'll have to mess around with the bike in the dark tonight. Probably in the rain, with a torch. The fork seals have just about given up the ghost too, so I'll be taking it in to a garage to get those replaced very shortly too, and i should probably replace the rear tyre at the same time as it's getting a bit low on tread, and the roads are going to be wet most of the time now.

This all adds up to a lot of money and inconvenience I could do without.

[Edit: SCO have just fixed their website at approx 1445 GMT - see my screencap above for how it used to be]

if it's raining would you like to borrow our garage, the space inside is pretty full, but with the big door open you'll be able to work in the light, and sheltered from the rain.

Actually, that would be really handy. The only problem is getting the bike there - the only way it will run is if the clutch is depressed. It will keep running up to about 25% release, so the bike will sort of edge forwards in first, but it's not like I can ride it anywhere like that.. (I manage to get it back home from the end of my street, but further than that and the clutch would burn out before long, plus it'd be unsafe to ride.)

But if i could borrow your shed door another time to fix the tacho and stuff, that'd be appreciated :)
