Oh sh*t! (Spammers)

My cpan email address is now being used as the (forged) from address for some spammers!

I'm receiving shedloads of bounces, and will have to deal with nine levels of hell to get my domain unblacklisted soon, no doubt :/

has happened a few times to me over the last 6 months or so. Never had any problem with being blacklisted...

(do they blacklist on email addresses these days? I thought it was purely on where it came from (IP of mail server))

I've had email addresses blacklisted before. But that was getting on about 6 or 7 years ago now.

Now, I feel depressingly old.

It's my CPAN email address.. I've never actually sent email to anyone with it - but it's available to searches in CPAN (http://search.cpan.org/), and spammers seem to know that - 80% of all my spam, at least, comes to that address.

Oh well :(

Yes, but netsky works by finding an email address in local html files and using its own internal smtp sender, so you don't have to have ever actually used the address. As I found out when it got in through... thunderbird... (which boggled me a bit) and I started getting returns to aliases I didn't think I'd ever finished setting up.

Yeah, but that address hasn't ever been near even a windows box at all.. Seriously, I've used it twice in my life.
