There is a god, and they hate me.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!
What do I deserve to receive this sort of preferential treatment from some evil daemon? WHY???
*deep breath*
Went to Camden Town. Parked in an area I thought I was allowed to, and received a 100 quid parking fine. Other bikes parked there didn't. WTF?
THEN the bloody bike decided to have a weird electrical fault. It'd start fine, but as soon as you put the kickstand up, the instrument cluster would die, and the bike would drop revs down very low and refuse to rev up. Pulling in the clutch restored life, but obviously you can't go anywhere with the clutch in. (Nor can you go anywhere with the kickstand down, as there's a safety cut-out that turns the bike off if you try to put it in gear with the stand down.)
After spending about half an hour dismantling the bike and prodding at wires and stuff, I was no closer to solving the problem. However, then it randomly "just worked" at some point, after pulling and twisting random bits of the wiring loom. Rode home, furious.
I suspect that the problem is that the wiring loom is broken, and a power cable has broken. The reason it works with the clutch in or the kickstand down is because they both have switches attached, for the aforementioned safety cut-out. However I bet that when they're operated, they allow power through - and so power IS getting in, albeit via a circuitous route.
What on earth do I do to deserve such a constant stream of faults?
Right. Am now going to head to the pub for a pint with Nick. Call me if you need me.
