Commendation for progress in adverse conditions – De Beauvoir Surgery, formally known as the Englefield Road Surgery, London N1
After the retirement of their GP, the surgery found it needed to make the vacant post more attractive to other GPs. The existing staff of one practice nurse and four receptionists worked tirelessly to computerise the patients’ records and improve staff skills through training programmes, while working entirely with locum doctors. Ms Lizelle Louw, past-Practice Manager at the surgery, said: “The staff managed to completely change the surgery for the better while working under the daily pressures and instability of temporary provision, mainly on their own initiative but with 100% commitment to improve patient services.”
