Misc update
May. 6th, 2005 11:15 amSo, election results. *sigh*
:(
I knew that'd happen, and I don't think anything else would have happened that would make me happy.. If the Tories had won, I'd be even more annoyed, and there was never any chance of any minor parties getting into power. Still think that they should scrap the first-past-the-post voting here, though.
It's funny to note that the Monster Raving Looney party candidate in nearby Hackney North (not my area) won more votes (250) then these parties in my area (Hackney South and Shoreditch): Workers Revolutionary Party and the Communist Party, and on par with the Socialist Labour Party and Liberal Party. Probably because three of those parties should really have been merged into one.
I voted for the Liberal Democrats in the end, and I guess that helped them on their way to a 21% result, with Labour down 11.3% to 51% total - but still winning. Oh well :( I'll write some letters to this Baylis chap shortly and let him know my feeling on key issues.
Diane Abbott, who I actually was my MP before (but is actually in Hackney North instead), was pretty good - she rebelled against the party line for various issues that I approve of, including Iraq.
Still sniffly with a cold, too. Made it to the pub for a bit anyway, since it was just down the road, and had some medicinal Fruhli and Frambozen before getting a semi-early night.
Not sure what I'm doing tonight.
