Wang party update
Sep. 6th, 2004 12:55 pmOn Saturday night
mouseboks,
nicky_j,
lusciousa and myself went to the Wang party at the Dungeons, on the border of Hackney and Leyton.
The main room had some Warp DJs, and a couple of Warp acts - Plaid and Milanese. I hadn't heard the latter before, but they put on a good show. The other main room had some DJs playing quite good stuff, standard Wang DJ fare, which could be loosely described as tech-house, with more emphasis on the tech than the house. Good danceable, interesting beats, essentially. The third room was dub, and almost empty all night.
The venue had been done up a little since last time I was there, and it wasn't quite as dodgy - it no longer looks like a squat party.
The crowd was friendly, and the venue had enough people to fill it up, without becoming crowded, and didn't get too hot, thanks to the heat-absorbing brick tunnels.
Later on in the night, there was a surprise appearence from a more well-known Warp act!
( See who turned up for a surprise live set.. )
