Today I am attempting to kick arse via telephone.

Those bollocked for being crap, so far are:

London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham for continuing to try and claim tax and NI, despite me not having worked there since April. I've called them again today, and yet again they have promised to call me back when they've worked out what's going on. I sincerely doubt it, you fückers.

CIA Insurance, for failing to post a new certificate of insurance to me, despite promises one would arrive by Saturday morning. They have now promised to send another one via must-be-signed-for-and-trackable courier direct to me at work. We'll see if it arrives.

The parking fine people in Witney do not have a website, nor can you pay over the phone. Sigh. I have dug out my cheque book and written them a cheque.

My HR dept have been chased up over some contract modifications relating to working on GPL and other opensource software.
Also asked them about leave for December/January but haven't heard back from them over that yet..

Still to-do )

In case no-one else has actually read the Terms of Service of the current LJMeme.com thing going around, this seems awfully relevant:

By posting said information, including personal information, you grant us full ownership over it for any purpose. This is an object lesson. Don't give out information you don't want other people to see without reading the fine print.

Doesn't anyone remember what happened last time around?

Further to the previous post, I was just wondering..

There is no authentication on the ljmeme thing, is there? I mean, I could sign up as anyone I liked - it seems to be a case of first-come-first-served as far as getting the username.

So, in theory I could say I was you, or your sister, or your friend's boyfriend, and then log in and say I had a crush on you.
There is nothing at all to prevent this!

Now, in a few weeks, the ljmeme team will release the (currently hidden) results of the crush meme, in return for a couple of dollars a throw. Say you give in to curiousity and pay to find out who has a crush on you - and the system says it's your father, or your manager, or your friend's girlfriend. You wouldn't stop and wonder "is it true?", you'd just start treating them differently, for something they'd never done.

Now, I'm not going to do anything like that, because I believe it's morally wrong; however, the system is inherently untrustworthy and let's face it, people have been bitten before, so why is everyone doing it all over again? It's a disaster waiting to happen..
