Jul. 6th, 2004 02:54 pmHmm.
I don't know if it is fixed for everyone else yet, or not, but LJ still seems to be sending me email notifications for about one in four actual comments left..
:(
I know I haven't really written any significant entries in ages.. I guess I've just got bored of "what i did this weekend" kind of posts.
Glastonbury was nice the other week, and I've been keeping a low profile since, in an attempt to recooperate, mentally, physically, and financially.
I have the first set of photos back, and will try to bring them out to the next social gathering.
I enjoyed Glastonbury 2003 more than 2004, mainly because the weather this year meant I spent more time hiding from the rain, than wandering around.
Seeing the English National Opera doing an hour from Wagner's Ring cycle was neat.. I'd actually really like to see the entire lot sometime, although I don't know if I'd have the stamina..
The piece performed was the third act of Die Walküre.
I'm not sure what I thought of their interpretation, though.. eg. Wotan causes Bruenhilde to fall into a deep sleep by injecting her with a syringe. She is carried away by what appear to be asylum orderlies, and the people trying (and failing) to reach her thru Loge's protective fire are guys dressed in sharp business suits.
I'd be interested to see how they had imagined the entire piece to go, and how such imagery would fit in with the story as a whole. (Hafner as a CEO perhaps? Mime as a single father bringing up an adopted, difficult, child in the suburbs?)
[Edit: And now it looks like Godwin's Law is about to be invoked in the comments.. I wouldn't have guessed that half an hour ago!]
