Phone stuff
Apr. 20th, 2004 02:42 pmI got thru to T-Mobile on Monday after work, and after much harangueing and them attempting to prevent me leaving via (a) causing me to keep getting transferred around and re-put on hold, (b) offering me some pitiful reward in order to re-sign a 12 month contract, I eventually got my PAC code out of them.
Earlier that day I had visited a phone store and managed to try out a Motorola V600 in the <strike>flesh</strike>plastic. The interface was as slow as my T68i, if not slower. Forget that then!
I asked the sales guy if he could reccommend a phone which had a reasonably fast phonebook/sms app. He claimed that ALL modern phones were like this. I said, surely there has to be some phones that are close to a Nokia 3210 when scrolling thru a phonebook? He said, No, but it is because now they have cameras and stuff in them, and this makes them go slower.
Uh, right. I left.
I'm currently thinking of getting a Nokia 7250i. It seems quite basic, but it does claim to have a (X)HTML web browser, GPRS, and a TCP/IP stack for java apps. I'm hoping that it lives up to Nokia standards of not breaking all the time, and having a reasonable phonebook/SMS flow. Will try and find some hapless salesperson to demonstrate one to me..
