I suspect our anonymous benefactors with the unprotected wireless network down the road, may have busted us. As of Sunday morning we could still ping their router, but it was not routing our packets out to the internet.
This suggests that either:
a) They noticed us, and are now only allowing fixed IPs or MAC addresses out to the internet. This is unusual, because most people would just enable WEP instead. However, maybe they want to leave us connected so they can try and discover where we are?
b) Their own internet provider has gone down, and they just haven't come home to reboot their dsl modem or whatever it is.

Ho hum.. maybe we should just be like normal people, and get a modem and use a dialup account until the DSL arrives at our house..

Hmm.. Seems like the network connection is back up here. Guess it must have just been a temporary fault down the road or something. I'm sure we'd offer to help, if we knew whose network we were on :)
